Riverbed Steelcentral Aternity and Ivanti Application Control

Riverbed Steelcentral Aternity and Ivanti Application Control

Riverbed Steelcentral Aternity is the product of Riverbed’s acquisition of Aternity back in 2016. The product offers customers an in-depth view of their workplace estate which dynamically learns what performance should be like and allows you to obtain a near real time view of your estate. This allows IT Administrators to respond to issues before customers even know there is an issue.

Unfortunately though Steelcentral Aternity and Ivanti Application Control (formerly AppSense Application manager) don’t play nicely together. The Steelcentral Aternity agent will stop itself if it detects that AMAppHook.dll is injected into itself. This document will describe the exclusions that should be added in order to allow Steelcentral Aternity to work. In order to combat this customers making use of Ivanti Application Control should configure the following Application Control Exclusions:

AppHookEx: a180ag.exe;a180cm.exe;a180ro.exe;a180ro64.exe;a180rs.exe;a180wd.exe;a180aa.exe;assistant.exe
DriverHookEx: C:\Program Files (x86)\Aternity Information Systems
URMHookEx: a180ag.exe;a180cm.exe;a180ro.exe;a180ro64.exe;a180rs.exe;a180wd.exe;a180aa.exe;assistant.exe

An email has already been sent in to Ivanti Product Management asking for this to be added to a KB article and hopefully added to the default exclusions list but I suspect this will take some time to get implemented.
